SGAM 23rd Annual General Meeting – March 22,2013

SGAM 23rd AGM 2012 was held at One World Hotel, First Avenue, Bandar Utama, PJ from 5.00pm – 7.00pm on March 22, 2013 in conjunction with the first ever “Members Appreciation Night” dinner. A record total of 46 members were in attendance being an election year of the current Management Council 2013-2015 which was for a 2-Year term and also due to the first time ever a “Members Appreciation Night” dinner was held immediately after the AGM.

Elections for the new Share/Guide Management Council 2013/2015 were conducted and the following members were elected for the related positions:

“Members Appreciation Night” Dinner – March 22,2013

The first ever “Members Appreciation Night” dinner was held in conjunction with the AGM as a gesture of appreciation to all members and sponsors who had supported The Share/Guide Association (Malaysia) for the past many years. It was held at the One World Hotel Ballroom with more than 100 member representatives in attendance, including Platinum Sponsor IBM, Gold Sponsors Silverlake Axis and Verity Solutions senior management staff, some past SGAM Chairmen and members’ top management staff.

The night started with melodies of lovely music rendered by a Quartet during the dinner followed by short speeches from SGAM Platinum and Gold Sponsors. The highlight of the evening must be the performance by the IBM dancers and singers who belted out lively songs and cap by an entertaining dance performance. This was followed by Esther Wong, one of the winner of previous SGAM Karaoke Contest, who kick off the karaoke session with a lovely song. The fun filled evening which provided members the opportunity to network, catch up with old friends from the IT fraternity and of course to show off their singing prowess during the karaoke session, ended at 11.30pm.

SGAM 22nd Annual General Meeting – March 20,2012

SGAM 22nd AGM 2012 was held at Sime Darby Convention Centre, KL at 3.00pm on March 20,2012 with 27 members in attendance.  Being a non-election year of the current Management Council 2011/2013 which has a 2-Year term, it was poorly attended.  However, an election was conducted for the 2 (two) Auditor’s positions, which fall vacant every year.  Peter Ong of OGS Consulting Pte Ltd and Roselin Ayob from Malayan Banking Bhd were elected

 

Movie-Get-Together – May 1,2012

The Movie-Get-Together social networking event held on May 1,2012 at GSC Pavilion for the show “The Avengers” was well attended and well received.  Pop corn and a drink were provided for each patron.  Redemption of tickets commenced at 1.00pm on that day even though  show time was 3.00pm.   Total of 256 patrons from member companies attended.

 

 SGA Masters Invitation 2012 Golf Tournament – May 19,2012

The SGA Masters Invitation Golf Tournament 2012 held on May 19,2012 at Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Shah Alam was attended by 82 players.   Except for a slight hitch regarding   

the tee off time at 2.00pm, a misunderstanding between the club official time and printed scorecard time, the tournament proceeded smoothly.  This was aided by the fine weather which held up till the end of the tournament when it turns foul.   Anyway, all the participants thoroughly enjoyed the social networking and competition during the tournament, with prize giving and dinner concluding an eventful and enjoyable day.

 

 Senior Management P3M Program  - July 18,2012

The Senior Management P3M program training course held on July 18,2012 at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, KL, was attended by 36 participants from member companies sponsored free-of-charge by SGAM, based on registration on a first-come-first-serve basis.   Participants learned the difference and integrating of best practices for project, programme and portfolio management, to drive improved business outcomes.  The training was well received by most participants based on feedbacks, especially regarding the module where a Senior Manager from a multinational company illustrated practical application of the P3M methodology.


SGAM Annual Conference & ICT Awards 2012  - Oct 16 & 17,2012

This annual event held at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, KL was attended by 320 delegates and exhibitors. The conference also showcased IT products exhibited by various IT vendors, who are SGAM members, at their booths.

 

The conference was officiated by Mr Eric Wong, Chief Marketing Officer of IBM Malaysia, our Platinum Sponsor.

There were nine main tent topics and ten breakout sessions.  Guest speakers Dr Amir Farid Isahak (on health & wellness), Ms Jean Soong (on first impression matters), Citizen Nades (on contemporary issues) and Encik Mohd Nizam Mohd Ali (on corporate integrity) provided some light moments amidst the various technology centric presentations. 

 Firegent iASP, one of the finalist representing Malaysia at the IBM Global Entrepreneur Program Asean SmartCamp Singapore 2012 was invited to share their experiences in the competition.

 SGAM ICT Achievement Awards 2012 were presented to five organizations for their IT innovative initiatives implemented in their respective organizations during the year, namely:

 1.     MAYBANK – “Clarity: Aligning Strategy and Unifying Project Information”

 2.     EPF – “EPF Journey to Excellence (Role Of IT As Enabler)”

 3.     TELEKOM – “TM Customer Experience Enrichment: iCare Prime Project Nationwide

                                     Deployment”

 4.     E-GENTING – “Practising Green and Sustainability Within and Beyond the Data Centre”

 5.     RHB – “Bank @ Work (Bank at Work)”

 All the award winners presented their respective achievements and graciously shared their experiences with the delegates in the spirit of knowledge sharing within the SGAM member community.

 Once again, it was another successful conference and all the planning and hard work that went into hosting this event were simply worth it.

 

 IBM z-Series “Leveraging The Strength of IBM System z Security” – Feb 26,2013

 The training held at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, KL, was conducted by Mr Greg Boyd from IBM System z WW Lab Services, USA, covering topics such as crypto functionality and hardware available on System z, System SSL and IPSEC, and database encryption.  It was attended by 23 participants of z-Series users and technical questions were skilfully answered by Greg during the “Technical Deep Dive” session.

 

 SGAM Bowling Tournament 2013 – March 3,2013

This popular event held at Sunway Pyramid attracted a total of 38 teams with a total of 152 players, comprising of 114 men and 38 ladies.  After a tense competition, the team championship goes to HSBC Bank Team 1 , 1st runners-up to Tabung Haji,  2nd runners-up to  OCBC Bank and 3rd runners-up was won by HeiTech Padu.  Players thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and it was well worth waking up early on this Sunday morning to participate.

 

 SGAM Futsal Tournament 2013 – March 10,2013

This event was held at Sports Planet Shah Alam and a total of 23 teams participated with 280 players and supporters present.  There were quite a few hard fought matches between the teams.  However, after the dust has settled, the team from Proton Parts emerged victorious with a thin margin of 2 – 1 over second-placed Nestle Products.  Prizes for 2nd runners-up goes to UOB Bank and 3rd runners-up to Standard Chartered Bank (Scope International).  Once again it was an eventful Sunday with SGAM members networking well through sports.

This program is open to all existing Share/Guide member organizations ONLY.

2.

ONLY successful user organization membership application is valid and eligible to join the program. All application is subject to the Share/Guide Management Committee approval.

3.

In the event that TWO (2) different introducers refer to the same applicant, the incentive will be given to the introducer with an earlier referral submission date.

4.

Winners are entitled to only ONE (1) prize throughout the duration of the program. Winners will be notified via email.

5.

Prizes are not exchangeable.

6.

In the event, that no introducer meets the minimum points needed as mentioned above, there will be no winner(s) for the category/categories.

7.

Share/Guide Management Committee decision on all matters relating to this program is final. No correspondence will be entertained.

I-City & HDC Study Tour – March 4,2011

This interesting study tour to i-City and High Performance Data Centre (HDC) was well attended by 67 people on the evening of March 4,2011.

Datuk Eu Hong Chew, CEO of i-City, graciously updated us on the vision and master plan development of i-City, illustrating the key differences from Cyberjaya and also the creation of an alternative successful Technopreneur Centre with many happenings, to attract knowledge workers there.

It was followed by a visit to the highly secured HDC hosting facility to observe
their Maxis Cloud Computing and hosting service in action. This was made possible with the authorization from the Management Team of HDC, a world class data centre infrastructure management service provider.

The impressive visit ended with a sumptuous steamboat dinner and Snowalk, the coolest hot spot in town, sponsored by HDC and i-City. Those participants who had time after that enjoyed strolling around the vicinity which was flooded with colorful LED digital lights. In summary, it was a visit well worth the time.

3rd SGAM Treasure Hunt – December 11-12th, 2010

 The 3rd SGAM Treasure Hunt event started on an eventful and chirpy morning from the KL Bird Park in the Lake Gardens. Long before the early sunrise at 6.30am, 120 participants representing 30 teams from SGAM member organizations were already registering and collecting their goody bags and tulips. As soon as all were ready once the event organizers briefed them on the rules and regulations, the first car was flagged off by the Secretary of SGAM, Mr. Woo Yuen Seng.

 The convoy of cars then took off towards their scenic destination in the cool mountains of Cameron Highlands, eventually checking in at the Century Pines Hotel.

 Along the way, all participants ‘hunted’ for answers based on the tulips and clues provided. Promoted as a fun and family event, some teams were made up of family members who were a match for the other regular hunters. The 150km journey took them along the old trunk roads, reaching the finish station at Tapah just after lunch hours. After the mid-day meal, they continued up the winding road and checking into the Hotel in the evening.

 After a refreshing rest, participants were treated to a sumptuous dinner, followed by a presentation of the event where the hunters were caught candidly at various stops checking their clues and some even exchanging answers!

 Finally, it was time to announce the winners where Team Oracle Malaysia emerged Champions in their first ever participation of this event. Runners-up and third place was won by teams from IBM.

 All in all, participants thoroughly enjoyed the event which was a refreshing change to the hectic work in the capital. This event was made possible through platinum sponsors – IBM, Gold Sponsors – Silverlake and Oracle Malaysia.
