SGA Masters Invitational 2014 - May 4, 2014 (Sunday)

The SGA Masters Invitational 2014 was held on Sunday, 4 May 2014 at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort. This year’s tournament attracted the participation of 68 golfers from vendors and users alike, with each one eyeing to become the champion in their respective categories.

Golfers started to flock Tropicana Golf Wing as early as 11am for registration. They proceeded with lunch which was served until 1pm. A group photo session was conducted at 1.20pm. By this time, all the golfers were very eager to start the game. The format of the tournament is Stableford System 36 (Shotgun). The weather was excellent at the time they teed off. However, halfway into the tournament, rain clouds gathered. Light showers started falling but it stopped after 15 minutes. Just when golfers thought that it was over, it started raining heavily. Anyway, the tournament proceeded although the downpours proved to be quite a distraction. Thank goodness, the lightning awareness system did not go off. The last flight finished at around 6.40pm.

While the tired but happy golfers went to the changing room to refresh themselves, Tropicana officials were consolidating the scorecards and worked on the final results. The much awaited prize giving ceremony started at 7.30pm whilst dinner was served. The champion for Medal A (User Category) was Encik Azlan Rashid from Affin Bank and Medal B (Vendor Category) was Mr. Goh Peng Ooi from Silverlake.

It was an all exciting and thrilling Saturday at the SGAM Futsal Tournament 2014 held at Sports Planet Ampang. This year's tournament saw the participation of 24 teams, each one with a mission to battle for an exclusive spot as the ultimate champion among SGAM members. The draw for grouping was conducted at 8am as scheduled, attended by the respective team captains.

The preliminary round kicked-off at 9.15am. For approximately 180 minutes, audience that consists of family, friends and colleagues of the players was served with 15 heart-thumping round robin knock-out matches. The atmosphere at the pitch was hot as if Sports Planet was hit by El-Nino! The players were on top of their game and audience were cheering for their favourite teams.

AIA IT & INFRA almost made it to the finals but JTM EPF beat them with an advantage of 1 goal.

Bank Islam and JTM EPF made it to the finals. It looked like both teams refuse to budge in order to win the title but when the referee blew his whistle Bank Islam emerged as the champion by viciously destroying JTM EPF motionless with 3 - 0, hence earning the bragging rights for the whole of 2014!
