On 22 July 2020, SHARE/GUIDE hosted an event session themed “CISCOVID-19 – The

Journey To Recovery,” that focused on the experience, challenges and the journey to

success of SHARE/GUIDE members that has coped well with their business and staff operations

rising from the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Malaysia. This session was an exclusive event

organized specially for a major sponsor of SHARE/GUIDE that saw how SHARE/GUIDE members

capitalized on their application of innovative digital products and services to ensure seem-less

continuity of operations during the MCO, CMCO and RMCO implementation since 18 March 2020.

Objective:

The Covid-19 pandemic situation that saw the Movement Control Order (MCO) announced by the

Prime Minister of Malaysia on 16 March 2020, not only was a major interruption to the way

how organisations conducted their businesses in Malaysia, but also the whole world.

Organisations were forced to implement and restructure their work strategies to cope with the

enforced situation on short notice when the MCO started. Those who were largely unscathed were

organisations who had foresight with their digital transformations that was implemented much earlier.

To this, SHARE/GUIDE had played a big part in the digital transformation journeys of its members

from 3 years ago when SHARE/GUIDE promoted its Digital Transformation themes in its

activities to get members to face the anticipated challenges.

As the Covid-19 situation persisted, there were further restrictions when subsequently, the CMCO

(Conditional Movement Control Order) and RCMO (Recovery Control Movement Order) were

enforced, prolonging the access of travels and public movements.

As many organisations face a variety of issues, ranging from financial constraints and  staff

movements, etc., the use of technology by proper-equipped organisations managed to see

them survive and coped better with a recovery journey during the prolonged restrictions than

other organisations.

The ‘CISCOVID-19 – The Journey To Recovery’ session was organised as an opportunity

for SHARE/GUIDE members to share with other members on how they had been able to

sustain themselves throughout the restrictions period by utilizing their IT technology and

services that they had already subscribed, a testimony to the capabilities of their digital

transformation initiatives. Other SHARE/GUIDE members got to know first-hand information

and learned from the experience of our fellow members in facing this challenging Covid-19

period in line with SHARE/GUIDE IT Users Association’s objective, to ‘share’ and to ‘guide’.

The list of Panelists during the session included:

Ms Tina Chee, Chief Technology Officer, Cisco Systems (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

Mr. Lee Chee Kheong, Commercial Sales Director, Cisco Systems (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

En. Nazrul Hisham, CEO, Zurich General Takaful Malaysia Bhd.
